The Fruits Have It!

thefruitshaveit

For the Most part, lately I’ve been feeling spring, thinking about summer, and spring all of the same time. Half of the year, i live in a sub zero temp (called Iowa). I am so tired of this whole winter (i mean seriously how many times have you heard that on Facebook?) I’ve been thinking a lot about the freshness of spring, and what can be more fun than fruit, (personally I’m obsessed with fruit bags) I’ve complied a bunch of fun fruit bags and a few clothing items, for you to to dive into, to get ready for your spring + summer wardrobes (long live spring with its freshness) and (summer with its endless Yard Sales + Estate Sales….). Remember, if your out and about to don’t hesitate to put that fun print or bag in your step.

Have you been wondering where I’ve been? I have been hiding away from blogging for a week due to illness, and in general being super busy with my job. Today, I am going to bring you the brand new topic of “The Menswear Collection” in my break down of trends that have died away but are cool now. I recently went thrifting in the men’s side of things, and have really looked at men’s clothing more often than women’s to be honest. They are more interesting sometimes. It has been more of a fun print thing for me recently, and men are always wearing ridiculous button ups, flannels, and bow ties – so why couldn’t women wear that kinda of stuff? I pulled together some prime examples of the way men’s clothing are used today (I.E. the men’s flannel shirt used as a dress, so DIY babes do it). Of course I just had to throw Carrie in there because I once heard Pat Fields describe wearing menswear as very sexy (ie. why women started wearing the “boyfriend jeans” and why Gap made them in every color).

In today’s society, I feel there are no gender switching roles between men and women. Women want to be equally treated as men and put into power positions just the same (i.e. the recent twitter debate about there are no women who sit on the twitter board of directors). So why are we bringing this up? Well geez, if Dennis Rodman can wear ladies clothing , so can I. Women want again to be treated as equals to men, so why are the gender clothes switching recently in fashion today? Is it because we want that equality. For me personally, I saw this as an opportunity as an oh hey an ugly dress, i can make look awesome moment. For most women the menswear line is big and drapy as some larger ladies. Like for me, I like it high waited and some menswear really does provide that stability that in “over-sizing” we want. To throw that in with underwear too, we women thought it was very sexy to have “the boy-short” created for us because we felt sexier in our boys underpants then those thongs we owned.

Women wanted to have something they could feel comfortable in and move about in, so as you find yourself stealing your boyfriends FDNY t-shirt, Ill be rocking my 5x mens shirt as a dress. Only because I felt that I don’t need to shop either side. Sometimes it’s fun for a woman to switch clothing genders! Switch it up!

Styled In The Heartland Hearts Edrop Off

Hey guys, sorry its taking me so long to update you! Last weekend i had the privilege of shopping with E-Drop Off ( a consignment based eBay store in Chicago IL) They had a annual charity warehouse sale, which i didnt make it to last year but this year i drove up at 2 am got there @5 and stood in line and managed to snag loads of designer goodies such as Lanvin Flats, Chanel , Prada, Fendi, Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs, Pucci, Elizbath Gillet, Escada, Bill Bass, Judith Lieber! It was madness the people in line, plus the ladies i stood in line with were funny! I had a great time in picking up some designer end items for a good cause. All the Money went to Charity. I also had the privilege of consigning items with Edrop Off they made it super easy for me all i had to do was drop of the item in the posh Lincoln park store.
I hope you enjoy this short quick post! If you would like to bid on my item Vist Here

She Look Good But Only On Camera…

Hey There! Its my 5th posting! I am really loving this playing dress up, and photographing it, i mean who doesn’t love that? It’s fun! Ok so today is sunday, i had a bit of trouble this morning with my car and didn’t make it to where i was going so i decided to blog instead. I have a little bit more modern fun look here, and i definitely bring it to a level of fun.  These colors are usually a step away from my normal bright colors but i love this dress so much , that i decided to push it and where it (even though its like 100 degrees outside) I still wore it. I still struggle with my image, believe me, but i think i did a great job in my opinion I’m gonna rock it and get it down!
